 When you apply for the Partner Visa, you're actually applying for both the temporary (Subclass 820) and permanent (Subclass 801) visas at the same time.

 The Subclass 309/100 Partner Visa is for people outside Australia who are in a genuine relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. Whether you're married or in a committed de facto relationship, this visa provides a clear path to living permanently in Australia with your partner. 

 The Subclass 309 is a temporary partner visa that lets you live in Australia while you wait for your permanent Subclass 100 visa to be processed.

You’ll usually need to hold the 309 visa for about 2 years before you're assessed for permanent residency.

 The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) is for individuals outside Australia who are engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. This visa allows you to enter Australia, get married, and then apply for a partner visa to remain in the country permanently.
